Nubian Narratives
An Essay Collection by Nubian Narrative PH

Nubian Narrative invites submissions for Nubian Narratives, an upcoming anthology of original essays by Nubian writers at home and across the global diaspora. This collection seeks to center Nubian voices, lived experience, and ancestral knowledge—reclaiming the authority to tell our own stories.

For centuries, Nubia has been documented and interpreted through external perspectives. This volume responds by creating space for Nubians to write from within, engaging memory, history, language, and culture on their own terms.

Themes

We are seeking essays that thoughtfully engage with one or more of the following themes:

1. Identity – Personal, communal, or intergenerational explorations of Nubian identity, belonging, displacement, and self-definition.
2. Culture – Reflections on traditions, rituals, art, music, food, land, and cultural continuity or loss.
3. Language – Essays addressing Nubian languages, memory, preservation, revival, translation, or linguistic erasure.

Submissions may be personal, reflective, historical, critical, or creative-nonfiction in form.

Eligibility

• Submissions are open to Nubian writers worldwide.
• Emerging and established writers are equally encouraged to submit.
• Contributors must submit original, unpublished work.

Submission Guidelines

• Essay length: 1,500–3,000 words
• Language: English/Nubian (Nobiin)/Arabic
• File format: .docx or .pdf
• Include a brief author bio (100 words max)

Deadline

July 7, 2026.

Selected contributors will be notified by September 7, 2026.

Rights & Publication

Authors retain ownership of their work. Nubian Narrative requests first publication rights for inclusion in this anthology.
